Josh Foor has a great love for running, but an even greater love to give of himself to help others improve. His desire is to leave the lives he touch greater than when he met them. His love for running is one of the great ways he is able to do this. Josh has run at least one mile each day for over 650 days. He enjoys using his running for causes. One of the dearest runs for Josh is Run For The Fallen. This is a relay run with each mile dedicated to honor and remember fallen armed forces heroes. He has done these runs in both New Jersey and Indiana.
It is through the Indian Run that I met Josh. I am 59 and only started running two years ago when I lost 90 pounds. I was nervous about joining the group of runners, not sure if they would accept me. Josh reached out to me and accepted me as a close friend. He started encouraging me, saying what a honor it was to have me run with them. We physically met for the first time at a 15K trail race. I had never done a trail race, but Josh ran with me the whole way, encouraging me and enabled me to successfully finish it. Since that day Josh has been a great encourager for me. He has me living by his motto “Believe and Achieve.” He has gotten me to do challenges with him. The challenges are not to show how much better he is over me. The challenges serve as encouragement for both of us to grow and cheer each other on. Through him I have gained the confidence to dream big knowing he will be there to help me achieve my potential. In October I will do my first marathon in Columbus and Josh will be there to help me get started and cheer me on at the finish line. He has built in me the confidence to push myself further. We have plans on doing a 50K trail race together in December and then do a 24-hour endurance run next June. Our ultimate dream is doing the Boston Marathon together. Josh’s love for running and love for helping others has enabled me to improve each and every day, reach my goals and also create new ones. He is truly an inspiration.
